Jean Peterson began her career as a graphic designer in 1977, gaining experience working at a community newspaper, a printing company, and a graphic design firm before establishing Jean Peterson Design (JPD) in 1996.
Since founding JPD, Jean has grown her company from a small print design studio to a full-service advertising agency. Highly experienced with a diverse portfolio of local and national businesses and organizations, she is committed to providing marketing solutions that surpass client expectations.
Passionate about effective design, Jean is equally passionate about the Frederick community. For years, Jean has enthusiastically supported the American Advertising Federation–Greater Frederick (AAF–GF) by serving on the board of directors and various committees, donating in-kind services, and providing financial sponsorships. Her company has received more than 200 American Advertising Federation ADDY awards, numerous Maryland State Governor's Awards, Maryland Recreation and Parks Association Awards, and International Economic Development Council Awards, among other accolades for design and marketing excellence. For her dedicated volunteer service and contributions to the AAF–GF, Jean was recognized with the Advertising Federation's 2000 Crystal Prism award. She also received the Silver Medal Award for her outstanding contributions to advertising and her role in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in areas of social concern.
Jean's passion for community extends far beyond the industry in which she works. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, a graduate of the Frederick County Leadership Program, and is currently on the board of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce. She has served on the Frederick Arts Council Board and other non-profit committees, generously donating her time and services. Jean has been named one of the Top 25 CEOs in Maryland by the Business Gazette, was recognized by the Entrepreneur Council of Frederick County, and received the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce Summit Award.
A graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland and a past adjunct professor of graphic design at Frederick Community College, Jean appreciates the importance of helping the next generation of designers. She continues to host interns at her company, participate in student portfolio reviews, and mentor continuing education students.
Jean encourages her JPD team members to give back to the community by donating time and design services to local non-profit organizations. In so doing, she believes her company makes Frederick a better place to live and work.
